FAQ's

FORCEVAL® Soluble

Q
What is the ideal volume for dissolving the Forceval soluble tablet?
A
The ideal recommended volume for dissolution is 125-200ml of water. The tablet will dissolve completely at lower volumes though may take a little longer and may require some stirring/swirling. Please also note that lowering the volume of reconstitution may impact on product palatability and taste (as the product contains a wide range of vitamins, minerals and trace elements)
Q
The resulting solution appears to be a bit cloudy. Is this normal?
A
Forceval contains a wide range of vitamins, minerals and trace elements. Some of these are water soluble and some are fat-soluble which means that when dissolved in water will create a solution that is slightly cloudy. This is perfectly normal.
Q
Can Forceval soluble be dissolved with other drinks such as cola etc.?
A
Because of the variety of drinks / colas available there is no study that we have undertaken which can allow us to make this recommendation.
Q
What are the sodium and potassium levels within Forceval soluble?
A
Each Forceval soluble adult tablet contains 386mg of sodium and 4mg of potassium. Each Forceval soluble junior tablet contains 250mg of sodium and 96mg of potassium.
Q
What is the calorific value of Forceval soluble?
A
Each Forceval soluble adult tablet contains 7.5 Kcal / 32.6 KJ of energy
Q
My urine has changed colour. Is this normal?
A
Forceval Soluble contains Vitamin B2 (riboflavin) which is a water soluble vitamin and any amount that is not required by the body is excreted in the urine. This may result in bright yellow discolouration of your urine.
Q
Can Forceval soluble be used with thickening agents?
A
Yes. We have data on file which can be provided. This functionality is particularly useful in people who have difficulty swallowing liquids.
Q
I would like to use this product for administration down PEG / NG tubes and would like to know if the tablet can be dissolved in much less than 125ml. for e.g. 50ml of water?
A
Yes. In an in-vitro setting using 50ml of water, the tablet disperses with spoon-assisted stirring and gentle breaking of the effervescent bubbles that form during the stirring process. The resulting solution is quite cloudy but this is to be expected because of the presence of fat soluble vitamins. There is some fine granule sedimentation at the bottom of the glass but as such the solution is OK to pass down NG/PEG tubes subject to the tubes being flushed with clear water after administration. Please use after administering feed.
Q
I have felt nauseated after taking Forceval soluble
A
Forceval soluble is a comprehensive mix of 24 vitamins minerals and trace elements. Nausea is a known side effect associated with the fat soluble vitamins A, D and E. Additionally, some of the heavy metals such as Iron, Copper, Zinc etc. can be expected to cause some stomach upset on occasion especially if taken on an empty stomach. To avoid or minimise this possibility, please ensure that Forceval soluble is always consumed after a meal.
